The United Methodist Men will be having their monthly meeting/dinner this Thursday September 10th at 6 pm. Their speaker for the evening will be Gordie McClanahan with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
The meal will be provided by Jeannie's Weenies. The menu this month is: Rigatoni, Salad, Garlic bread, Sweet Ice tea and for dessert triple chocolate browines.
All men are encourgared to attend. If you are plan to attend and are not on a calling list and would like to be placed on a list for future meetings please let one of the officers know. The officers are Jerry Meadows-President, John Fleek- V.P. and Jay Ripley- Secretary Treasurer.
Justice and Advocacy Team Hosts "The Sacred Vote: Faith, Democracy, and the Ongoing Struggle for Voting Rights"
Although voting is a principal civic responsibility, it is also intertwined with sacred values. In recent years, voting rights have faced renewed pressure from proposed and enacted changes to mail-in voting, voter identification requirements, redistricting practices, and other election rules. At a time when trust in democratic institutions is already fragile, legislation that may narrow voter participation rather than strengthen it warrants moral scrutiny and thoughtful public engagement. Come learn about the history of voting, the sacred nature of the vote, and current legislation and court rulings directed at voting rights.
